Larne (Latharna inside Irish which means 'the lands of Lathar' world health organization was an Irish prince) is a town in County Antrim, Northern Ireland with a population of about 31,000 people. It has been utilized as a seaport for over Gr& years, and is currently mostly utilized by freight.
Larne contains a headquarters of Larne Borough Council. Together by using a neighboring district of Carrickfergus and part of Newtownabbey, it forms the East Antrim constituency for elections to the Westminster Parliament and Northern Ireland Assembly.

Notable buildings in a town include the ruins of sixteenth century Olderfleet Castle and The Chaine Memorial, a replication of the traditional Irish round tower and known locally as "the giant's pencil".
Larne Lough is designated as an Area of Special Scientific Interest, Special Protection Area, and Ramsar Site in order to protect the wetl& environment, particularly due to the presence of certain bird mintage and shellfish.
A town is also referred to as a birthplace of the author and poet Amanda M’Kittrick Ros who has been described by critics as "The world's worst author".
Larne is twinned using Clover, South Carolina.
History
Two fossils and prehistoric human artefacts develop been discovered in the sea cliffs around Larne.
Larne was one of a earliest Viking settlements in Ireland, world health organization besides known as it "Ulfreksfjord" (a title of the present-contemporary townland, "Olderfleet", is from either this Viking title), & Viking memorial park use been found in the area.
Edward the Bruce, brother of a Scottish King Robert the Bruce, landed within Larne using the big military unit to invade Ireland.

Larne is attached to Belfast by the A8 road. A A2 road or 'Antrim coast road' which runs along a Antrim coast, & lives through the scenic Glens of Antrim, also serves a town. To a south of a town the A2 lives the side of Larne Lough, via Glynn, Magheramorne, and Ballycarry, to Whitehead and Carrickfergus. A A38 road runs from a town to Ballymena.
The railway route to Belfast, via Whitehead & Carrickfergus, as well connects Larne to the Northern Ireland Railways network. Presently no freight transfer by rail Northern Ireland.
